Frequently Asked Questions |
Please see below questions, in no particular order, for straight-forward answers from 2B Coaches. The questions are taken straight from 2B Athletes and are not edited. This will give you an idea of the 2B Philosophy and our emphasis on quality and well-rounded programming.
|
Absolutely! 2B is for everyone looking 2B better today than they were yesterday, and better tomorrow than they are today. We coach all our athletes to adopt this mentality and to measure your progress against their previous best...not against someone else. This focus ensures continues progress and improvement. |
| What if I am over 50? Is 2B for me?
Yes. 2B does not discriminate based on age :) One of 2B's motto's is "Age is just a state of mind," so even if your birth certificate says you're 50 years young, we base your program on what you've done, where you are and where you want 2B. These factors are much more important than the number of years you've been on this planet. Who knows, you may even have a thing or two to teach the 30 and 40 crowd! |
| What if I'm not an elite?
98% of people who race endurance events aren't "elite," so you're not alone. Again, 2B is about improvement and progress, and whether this means you're running a 4:30 min/mile or 12:00 min/mile, it really doesn't matter. What matters is that you get better, unlock your potential and maximize the hours you spend training. There is no end to better...for anyone. |
| Will there be race uniforms?
2B has the current TEAM apparel available for purchase: hats, cycling jerseys, triathlon jerseys, running shirts, and casual apparel. But please check the 2B Apparel page for the latest additions. |
| What if I don't like to have fun?
Um, sorry, but 2B is not for you. Admittedly, we work our a$$es off but we balance fitness with fun and life with laughter. There's too much seriousness in the world to not have fun with friends and training partners. |
| What if I only want to train for one race?
Training for one race can be a blessing in disguise - it gives you a singular focus. Most people race too much and feel that they have 2B racing all the time or they won't be "ready." Only training for one race usually leads to less injuries, enhanced quality of training and better results on race day. 2B welcomes athletes who adopt this approach! |
| I only want to do one-on-one strength training - can I still be a part of the 2B TEAM?
Yes, you can. Not everyone is an endurance athlete and some of us enjoy competing in the gym more than on the bike, in the water or on the track. 2B brings the same innovative, custom approach to strength training that it does to endurance coaching and programming. You will see the same visible, measurable results. |
| What if I don't want to do triathlons?
2B Athletes do not simply do triathlons - they are runners, cyclists, duathletes, golfers, and general fitness buffs. Do what you want to do - life is too short not to. |
| Do I have to make a certain time or monthly commitment?
The time commitment you will need to make is based on your goals (where you want 2B) and where you currently are. The 2B Coach will tell you the requirement necessary to achieve you goals. If you are willing to make this time commitment, we rock and roll. If there is a discrepancy between your goals and the time commitment you're willing to make, we revise accordingly. We're always honest with our athletes on the commitment and sacrifices necessary to achieve their goals. For monthly commitments, please Contact Us to discuss these details. Our athletes' schedules are almost always planned in monthly segments and a minimum of a month in advance. |
| I can't swim...can I train and compete in a triathlon?
Ah yes, we hear this question a lot. Trust me - unless you have a high school or collegiate swimming background, almost everyone struggles on the swim. Because water is about 700x denser than air, all your technique flaws are magnified. So the best thing you can do is to initially take a couple lessons from a swim coach to get the proper technique ingrained. It pays off in the long run. Beyond this, if you're doing a triathlon you'll probably be able to use a wetsuit, which is a huge advantage. It puts you on top of the water and all you have to worry about is pulling and moving forward. DO NOT let a fear of swimming stop you from doing a triathlon! We hear this all the time and a fear of swimming can EASILY be overcome. After a couple lessons and a little practice, it'll start feeling as natural as cycling and running. |
| I like to drink beer...a lot of beer...especially good beer (like Surly). Is this ok?
Sweet - we like to drink beer too. Good carb loading :) In all seriousness, you have to worry about alcohol as a diuretic (meaning it dehydrates you and takes water out of your body) but as long as you're balancing it with proper hydration and recovery, there is nothing wrong with having a few beers. Remember, it is not what you do some of the time, it's what you do most of the time that matters. |
| What if I like celebrating my accomplishments?
You're in luck - at 2B we're blessed 2B able to celebrate a lot of accomplishments (because almost all our clients have success). We take great pride in this and we want to celebrate with you! If you're going to put in all the long hours, dedication, hard work and sacrifice, shouldn't you be able to celebrate it afterwards? You better believe it! |
